Mose Gingerich (Owner of Gingerich Professional Roofing)
Mose Gingerich worked very hard in the fields of the family 255-acre farm and sawmill. Having been born into an Old Order Amish community, as a young boy he found himself storytelling in his thoughts and daydreams and became eager to expand his world and share his life’s experience to help others.
Strong work ethic and important capabilities gave Mose a foundation for building his future and what would become his own business. But in his free time Mose could be found reading, as he used stories as an escape from the grueling manual labor experienced on the farm, “when one’s nose is buried between the covers of a well-written novel, (you) can almost become one of the characters”, which he preferred over “breathing the dust created by so many horses pulling plows.” During these formative years, Mose began to question his commitment to the Amish way of life.
Eventually, after previous attempts, at age 22 Mose decided to leave the Amish community and acclimate to the “outside world”. This proved more difficult than expected as homesickness and pressure from others pursued him. But he aspired to do more and knew he couldn’t stay.
For the first 8 years outside of the community Mose worked in construction, 6 of those years owning his own business. Working construction and navigating his new life quickly became more important when he met Shana, and the two were married in 2005. Raising three children together in the center of Missouri, the family enjoys time together and is grateful for a full life that allows them to serve others in the best way possible.
After a slight detour into over-the-road trucking that allowed time for a love of audiobooks, and driving alone, gave Mose room to make bigger plans for the future. He expanded his construction experience into more specialized roofing.
Now with Gingerich Professional Roofing established and many years in the construction industry, Mose is happy to employ other ex-Amish young men to help them find their way in the “world”.
